For beginners on up, the Las Cruces Public Libraries is offering a variety of computer literacy classes during October, according to a city news release.

“The classes range from basic skills to more advanced, such as Excel spreadsheet functions,” the release stated.

Registration is not required and the class sessions are independent of others.

Attendees were encouraged simply to arrive early “to ensure there is a laptop available for hands-on learning.”

The class schedule during October includes:

• Monday, Oct.

  7, 10 a.m. to noon: Basic computer skills. Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St. The class covers what computers are, how they function and how to use them properly.

• Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2-4 p.m.: Internet basics and safety.

  Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave. The class covers how to navigate the internet and stay safe online.

• Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2-4 p.m.: Manage your f
